Salt Spring Islander Marianne Grittani is a seasoned performer, whose live performances range from lively to intimate and are always completely engaging. She exudes musicality as she presents original and cover acoustic music infused with rhythm, well-crafted lyrics and soulful, compelling vocals. Her songwriting style is informed by swing, R & B, country, blues, gospel and folk; all of those flavours can be savoured in her work as she makes them authentically her own.
A multi-instrumentalist herself (guitar, ukulele, mandolin), Marianne delights as a solo performer and ups the ante with more musical texture when playing with any number of her many talented musician friends, some of whom include Rose Birney and Valdy.
Her album Into the Shimmering was nominated for a West Coast Music Award and received international airplay.
Her show on April 10 at the Deep Cove Folk Club will include Rose Birney on mandolin and harmonica and Michael Iurincic on bass.
