Gordon Carter is a rare breed in this world. He is a talented singer/songwriter who writes from the heart about his local heritage and homeland. Gordon Carter’s songs are timeless, blending folk and folklore seamlessly.
Carter was born in Cumberland in the Comox Valley of Vancouver Island. He is a third generation valley resident and it is his roots and love of the land that comes through in his songwriting and performances. With his storytelling gifts Gordon brings to life stories of draft dodgers, touching tales of his family, and social/political songs from the local area. Gordon’s work may be based on life in the confines of the Comox Valley but it is now recognized far beyond
In this day of mass-produced music, his work stands up against the classic songwriters of our day. If we had a 2005 Woodstock, Gordon Carter would be there.
