Honours and Awards Coco’s been honoured with East Coast Music Award Nominations for Female Artist Recording of the Year & Songwriter of the Year. Also, she has Nova Scotia Music Award nominations for Female Album of the Year and Jazz Album of the Year, and Western Canada Music Award for Producer of the Year. Ian’s plaudits include 2012 …International Acoustic Music Award for Best Male Artist, Canadian Folk Music Awards 2013 Contemporary Singer of the Year and two times as Nova Scotia Musician of the Year.
Sherwood is a musician, story teller and a constant creator. He has penned tunes for many other artists as well as theatre, film and television. Starting his music career as an in-demand saxophone player in Toronto, Sherwood soon began looking for an outlet for his poetic side. His unique musicianship combined with his tales of heartbreak, victory and adventure quickly gained recognition as a solid performer, lyricist and player.
As a performer, Coco is always in the moment; joyful and genuine, soulful and compelling. Alcorn sings joyful soul; a combination of her diverse musical influences, including jazz, pop, R&B and folk. The press has hailed her voice as extraordinary, beautiful and stunning. Her playful and witty character, love of improvising and her willingness to engage fearlessly with the audience has made Coco Love Alcorn an established presence on the Canadian music scene.
Together, Ian & Coco seamlessly blend their individual catalogs as they present a dynamic show, with this feisty duo there’s no need for a band. In an evening full of harmonies, humour, and a zest for engaging in the moment, these two troubadours create a sense of adventure. Said Ian, “There’s a band’s worth of instruments. She dabbles in trumpet, and I play saxophone”.
